"Bridge of Wings -
Where He Waits"

so, my new whysper design is a bit late this year. i was waiting for an image that a friend was making for me. her connection got spotty, then she disappeared before getting the image to me. i'm more worried about her than the image, mind you, but i also know she'll eventually land on her feet. still, i wish she'd get some word to me that she's alright - that she just moved or something.

as for the design, well, i had to scramble to come up with a new image and layout. it didn't help much that i ended up with a migraine this morning. storm moved in and that's all she wrote for about half the day. i almost used a previous layout for a character blog that's long been shut down, but i really didn't want to do that - it really doesn;t fit whysper to me (which may have more to do with it being associated with the character journal than anything). so i went hunting and spent the day slowly puting this together. i apologize to my regular readers who have been awaiting the new whysper design and who usually get a preview before the rest of the world. next year i will either have the image promised by my friend or will be smart enough to have a contingency in place.

and while i'm at it, i just might have the archives all finally fixed. but let's not hold our breath on that.

the layout isn't quite what i had in mind - the entry space is narrower than i'd like, but came out well enough considering the circumstances. i just need to keep any pictures i end up posting this year under 410 pixels. not that many of you will complain after that last picture fest i posted! ;)

all in all, though, i think it came out okay. the deep rich colors are a change for whysper, but the nice parchment background makes it easy on the eyes. not too dark overall, not too light. i've tested the layout in firefox, opera, netscape, and i.e., but then i had to make a few changes, so please be sure to contact me if something has to be tweaked. my head still hurts, so i want to get my new year's entry up and then go lay down again as soon as possible. i can tweak some more tomorrow.

i'm also scrambling on making a physical copy of the grades. my grade books i ordered were supposed to be here friday and didn't show. so they'll more than likely not be here until tuesday. so i'm currently making a copy on my own forms just to have something that's organized and easy to access when the books do arrive. i need to work on them tonight and try to get them finished tomorrow.

note to self: next time try out your great ideas only on things that are yours and only yours, domy.

it's hard to believe the vacation is almost over and that kitten will be gone again. she's going in with saxy to work tomorrow, then with me on tuesday. wednesday when i'm at work, she'll be off to the bus station to return to fort gordon i'll hate having her gone, but i think i'll enjoy the renewed quiet - which might last a day or two before jewel and froggy go at it again. if we're lucky.

there's the usual financial scramble going on as well, but we won't go into that tonight. i won't complain about it because this holiday was just wonderful for us, scramble and all. so i'm pretty content for the moment. and that's a blessing we rarely have during the holiday season it seems. a little scrambling seems a small price to pay.
