today was supposed to be a quiet day. i was going to finish an editing project for lp (which i did), bake some cookies, and generally take it easy. 'supposed to be' are the operative words here because, yea, didn't quite happen that way. what did happen wasn't bad, but definitely not quiet. it started off that way, but the best laid plans....
first, there still was no child support from the soon to be ex. this is a bank wire transfer, wire transfers shouldn't take more than a week, but that's what it's been. however, the attempt at trying to find out what was going on quickly spiraled into another major fight. saying it was needed for rent and food only pissed him off even more since that translated into "helping my parents" (as if she wouldn't need to pay for rent and food if she were out on her own...at least we're affordable). i guess after that call, she called and talked to fitts (who really wants to go and beat the crap out of trin) and got calmed down. he also decided to send money.
so off we went to pick up the money, came back and finish separating the laundry, have a late lunch, then back out to drop her off at the laundromat. at least that was the plan.
and it pretty much worked out that way only on the first trip, she picked up more than money (and eggs and sugar). after 30 minutes or so, i was getting a bit concerned. she finally comes out carrying 4 or 5 bags, one including a cake.
*blinks*
it turns out she picked up stuff for saxy's and my anniversary dinner this year. there's a chance the kids will be out of the house entirely, she and fitts are talking about going to the peach drop this year, and our company will have left the day before. we might actually have an anniversary totally alone (instead of putting the kids to bed early, but still in the same house with us). so she wants to help make it special.
the rest of the plan went as expected except for a brief side trip back to the store to pick up extra detergent. no big. dropped her off, headed home (froggy can handle 10 or 20 minutes of keeping an eye on things; any more than that and i worry). i was home maybe a half hour when kitten calls and asks me to bring a couple of things to her. so back out i go, drop said things off, and get back home.
i tried to get cookies done -- the dough was done in the morning and needed a few hours to chill. by now it was chilled, but i only got one tray done before it was time to get dinner in the oven. in the middle of making dinner, saxy calls and asks me to look up the location of the alpharetta cheesecake factory.
i decide to lay down for a bit. i'm down for maybe 20 minutes when kitten calls me again to head over and pick her up. and by now it's not just cold, like it's been all day, but freezing. i wrap up and go pick her up, come home and finish up dinner, and finally take a little time off. course, my day isn't quite done...dishes await.
and that was my "quiet" day. remind me not to ask for another one. :P
