day 1
some things i have learned my first day back to classes:
no heels.
my right foot seems to have morphed over night into 1/2 a size larger than it was at the store when i bought shoes. so while my left foot was not necessarily comfortable it was at least tolerable, my right foot was in agony. the top portion of the new shoes that goes over the foot was cutting into my
right foot most of the time.
do not sit in the big comfortable chair to study.
i fall asleep, which not only is not conducive to studying, it hurts the back of my neck and shoulders.
i have an extra textbook for one of my classes.
it builds on a class i took about 2, 2 1/2 years ago, of which i remember next to nothing. my notes are gone, so all i have to rely on to help get me through the current class is the textbook for the previous class.
as long as i don't eat, i don't need to be up by 5:15 a.m.
it didn't take that long to get ready, i even had time to check my mail. i can grab something on campus or take it with me, especially since it takes me at least an hour to be hungry anyway. and at that ungodly hour, every extra 5 minutes helps. in this case i may get as much as 30!
i thought i understood technical college speak used in most college textbooks.
until i started reading the first chapter for my first class. thank goodness the instructor realized some of us would be totally lost in a book written in 1948 and created an "interactive" cd for the class that helps get through each chapter in sections. will take longer, but i just might get
through the book.
i arrived home from school today in one piece, cold and achy but in one piece. i did get to see an old friend (who will be graduating next quarter) in one of my classes, so i wasn't quite all alone. tomorrow i will be having lunch with another friend. just as i predicted,
i will be very busy writing this quarter . . . and not an english class in sight!
