well, that was fast.

every year, we make our goals or resolutions, and things start off just fine at first, but then "something" always happens, and the next thing you know, your goals are history. my goals aren't history—i know to pick myself up and begin again—but the derailment hit hard early this year.

in other words, this past week was shit.

for starters, my workouts did get derailed for the week. tuesday i didn't have enough sleep, and i don't mix heavy weights with lack of sleep. i have come up with something of a solution for days like that in the future (because i know they will happen). i'll be pulling out my piyo set from beachbody. weight based exercise isn't necessarily the same as lifting, but it is much safer when tired and will get some kind of muscle work in. it's really something better done consistently (and even then, it's a hard program), but it'll make a good replacement for lifting.

not that a different program will help much for saturday's issue. sinuses were so bad i felt sick. some of this is the damn weather. winters are hard: they're dark and cold and the storms are in then out then in again. my head hates them, and get enough of that and my sinuses end up really unhappy too. those kinds of days, all i can do is rest.

i'll admit, this past winter has been tough on the health. seems i've been sick or dealing with sinus crap more than i used to. i'm sure quite a bit of that is having been off our best diet and the significantly reduced amount of exercise the last 3 years. the rest is the increased number of storms this winter. we've not gotten that cold (yet; we're going into february, and it's about to get colder), but we've been wet. storms almost every night. so the additional head and sinus stuff is understandable. hopefully it'll get better as we make our way back to our healthiest selves in this house.

but the big kicker this weekend? my oldest was in an accident last night: her car hydroplaned into another. she's fine, the car not so much. and in georgia, if you hit someone while hydroplaning, you're at fault for the accident. and she had the bare minimum for insurance, so she won't get any money to replace it (bare minimum was all she could afford because of previous accidents—she was playing more just for herself per month with liability than we do for the two of us with gap and replacement added). going with saxy won't work because of locations and schedules. so, yea, she's got a lot to sort out. fortunately, she seems less stressed today than last night, and as i said, she's not injured as far as we can tell.

in less important things, writing also didn't happen much this week: too tired, too much pain. not a lot got checked off on my daily to do lists (which help keep me on track) for the same reasons. i did manage laundry, not that that's too much a surprise (it gets done on nights when i'm waiting on hub's check so i can pay bills and prepare myself to deal with the rest of the week financially).

on bit of good news: we finally have usable insurance through hub's work. this is a very good thing. our initial appointments should be general wellness checkups, which are 100% covered, and which also should get us back on our meds for high bp, etc (not 100% covered but hopefully cheap enough to pay for since this insurance doesn't just do a co-pay).

so, yea, it's been a week, but at least it ended on a good note? and hopefully next week will be better. much better.

*gulps down a tylenol*

in most things anyway. have i mentioned how much i hate winter? probably not.

i hate winter. :P
