12 of the 13 resumés have been placed in their appropriate schools. the 13th is still with me as we decided the last school was not only too far but also too complicated to get to. well, actually, saxy had decided, but i was okay with it. it was way out on the edges of our map. hubby and i had a little lunch together as well and, overall, it was a pretty decent day for us, other than some unexpected bank problems (saxy's paycheck still hasn't been credited to the account and they charged a $30 overdraft fee for a teller withdrawal he made off my paycheck - made the account a bit more cash poor than we expected).
it was an okay day, really. as expected, no one asked for an immediate interview. only one of the 13 made me pause at all - the receptionist took the resumé but didn't even bother to look at it and placed it face down on her desk. i realize the woman was busy, but i really felt like i got the brush off and that my resumé probably ended up in the circular file when i left. most of the others were very nice, though, and i got 5 new sub dates and a lead on a possible long term position from 3 of them.
the whole stop and drop journey ended just in time too. a storm moved in and, about the time we started to head home from the last stop, a migraine started to develop. we came home and i changed, took my meds, and basically crashed for a bit.
from what i could tell with the schools we went to, i shouldn't hold my breath for a permanent placement before summer. everyone seems quite settled with their teachers at the moment, no new positions opening, etc. still, i'm not taking the high school praxis just yet. there's a good chance, especially with the long term work i've been doing, that i'll get in this summer for next year. so i'll hold out until then. if things still don't pan out, then i'll take the high school praxis this fall. since i really don't want to go into high school teaching, this seems to be the best plan for the moment. in the mean time, i seem to have a few fans out there, and hopefully they'll keep me quite busy.
and i'm really hoping to be the one tapped for that long term position. it's not high school and will keep me working every day until the end of the year. long term under those conditions is very good . . . and the extra $10/day helps considerably.
course, next month, i may need to take a day off. saxy has quite a few musicians he really wants to see, but really, only a few that would completely jazz him out. next month sheryl crow is coming out and it looks like the tickets are gonna be a bit pricey (aren't they always?). so i told him to keep an eye on them and i'd look into getting him a ticket. yes, just one ticket. at the price we were looking at, there is no way i could afford to send us both, but i could make my man happy and send him on his meryy way. maybe.
then our fave radio station out here, dave fm, started a win before you buy featuring sheryl crow tickets. now saxy has tried to win stuff before, in fact, he tried to win me tickets to something, calling every time the chance came up and never making it.
today he was the first winner of sheryl crow tickets.
i just may need the friday after the concert off after all. ;)
