what is it with my family that there always has to be so much going on? i mean. really, people, calm and quiet doesn't make for great journal posts, but it really helps keep things a lot less stressful. well, okay, it would make things a lot less interesting as well, but really, one major thing a week should be my limit.
i wish. lol
the biggest news? kitten is engaged again. the date is years away since they both need to finish college and she needs to get that damn divorce, but she is quite the happy girl. here she is with the boy...
of course, this means he needs a name for the journal, so here it is: big-t. the ring he bought her is absolutely gorgeous. and, more important than all that? baby cat adores him. :)
she's already making plans for the wedding, right down to looking at dresses. it seems early to me since they have at least 3 years before they're done with school, and prices promise to escalate, and designs will end up disappearing off the face of the earth between now and then, but she's beyond happy. and he seems to treat her well. i'm happy she found someone who brings her more joy and less pain than trin.
of course, to even out the good, there must be a bad. and this past week's bad was linnorm almost losing his job. for two days we were scrambling to figure out how to manage the loss of income (child support) and medical insurance. as it turns out, he's not losing his job, though they did decide to move him. however, he's still saying the kids could lose insurance, and i had to remind him to check that since the federal law now says kids can stay on until they're 26. i know it means him paying more insurance (by quite a bit) for awhile longer, but we really need him to make sure kaiser will follow the new federal law at least for awhile. saxy's out of school in november, i believe. after that. we can finally work on just working and getting on our feet 100%.
(trying to get jewel back on it as well, since it's far better insurance than what she has now.)
hey, i can dream, right?
speaking of classes, this week ended up being a reversal of sorts: my younger kids are off for spring break (thank, god! easter candy will soon disappear from the shelves, and i will be a much less tempted woman), but my adult students started their new term monday. for big-t, there were some issues that had him missing the first day of two of his classes, but that's apparently sorted out now. i actually was surprised about the kids being off, and the timing was a bit on the bad side since this week was a slim grocery day, but we're managing. schedules are changing at saxy's work and it's been a bit on the weird side as that gets sorted (as long as he's around 30+ hours, i'm happy), and we're having to adjust routines at home. in ten weeks, we do it all over again. for me, the good news is that i get mostly peace and quiet once the younger students are back in school. i'll have the grand baby to deal with, but she and i generally come to an understanding after a few days. ;)
you know, it's really interesting how i don't have to do much at all to have a "busy" week. and an engagement. yea, just wow. the week's on a good note, so let's hope it stay there.
