it's the lull time between christmas presents and when we must start dinner, so i figured i'd share the morning and the haul.
saxy made breakfast this morning, as is his christmas tradition, but he made french toast, eggs, and bacon instead of the usual pancakes. we had our traditional hot chocolate as well. while he was cooking, jewel and rhed arrived. saxy served, everybody ate, dishes were put up, and we sipped our chocolate while gifts were opened. except for baby cat. baby cat takes much longer to eat, but, amazingly, she ate almost everything put in front of her.
as for giftees, the kiddos each received a $10 b&n gift card and a $25 target gift card; kitten received the $10 b&n card, but she received something else in lieu of the target card. froggy also received some tops from kitten (2 long sleeved, 1 short sleeved; but the long sleeved was picked up to wear under the short sleeved), stuffed animals from her grandma -- 2 spangles and a glory (ty), and a crystal dolphin (apparently from me, but since saxy did all the shopping this year, even i was surprised!). taz's hoard included a queen sized, lamb's wool blank with a navajo pattern on it and stuffed animals from grandma -- bird and a ty cat. baby cat made out with a ton of stuffed animals, an ariel nightgown, and a rocking elephant. kitten's addition to the gift card was a cd by trans-siberian orchestra. saxy picked up most of his own gifts: lost season 3 and 2 medieval times shot glasses (the king and wench). from kitten he received the prison break season 1. as usual, the husband spoiled me: 2 coffee mugs from medieval times for my collection, 1 naruto coffee mug, a dragon statuette (dragon on a mushroom with a fairy looking up at it) for my dragon collection, and from my oldest, a pair of earrings. jewel now has more kitchen stuff than she probably knows what to do with. from us she recieved a set of baking spatulas, a wisk, measuring cups, measuring spoons, and a bread box that is being handed down from grandma. from her sister she recevied a kitchen set with 4 storage boxes, 2 frying pans, and a whole bunch of other cooking and kitchen utensils. she had said she needed kitchen stuff, and she now has more than enough to cover just about anything a couple will need.
jewel and rhed have taken off for a bit and will be back later for dinner. we're doing dishes and getting ready to start cooking the dinner. plus hair will be done (dressing up won't occur until hens are in the oven). cookies and cranberry bread will be set out soon as well. in a short time, baby cat will take a nap (we hope). and taz is watching the next gen marathon on scifi.
we've had a good haul. now we get the lull before the madness begins again. jewel and rhed will return, kitten's friend will make his way over, and linnorm should arrive all between 3 and 4:30. dinner, we hope, won't be much later than that, but it depends on how long it takes 10 hens to cook. i've never made quite so many at one time, so it should be interesting.
time to go rock the baby and see if we can get her nap. froggy will work on dishes, then kitten will do hair. once that's done, tiem to set up the treat plates. more than likely, once those are out, it will be time to start on the hens.
it was a short lull, but at least it was a lull. ;)
