ahhhhhhhhhhh!

let me repeat that: ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

now, let me back up here a minute. i've been circulating about a dozen short stories for publication, generally choosing places that pay to make my subs. i've had a couple of poems and flash pieces published over at dii flash & poetry, neither of which generally earn much money to begin with, if you can find a market that will pay at all (and poetry has a better chance of being paid for than flash). i also had a few articles published over at the business of writing at the request of the editor there. however, i couldn't claim any of them on my query letters because of my associations - i am a founding member of dii and until recently biz was hosted at my .net. i finally decided to send a story to another friend whose zine i could use in my clips even though the zine doesn't pay. she accepted one of my harder to place pieces and it is now up in the spring 2004 worlds of wonder a webzine of fantasy & sf.

i never got a chance to use the clip. not yet anyway.

i just received a rejection that was an acceptance. fantastic stories of the imagination editor, edward mcfadden had announced some time ago that fs was overstocked and anything not responded to should be considered rejected. so i went on to sub the story elsewhere (and got rejected) and crossed the market off my list for future subs for awhile.

never did i expect another communication from him. but i got one. not for fs, but for his new ezine, cosmic speculative fiction. the story he rejected for fs? he wants it for csf! and he's going to PAY me. okay, so it's not a major payment, but i've actually sold, as in got paid for, one of my stories! hey, maybe i CAN do this after all!

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

now i'm waiting for the contracts, which i will return to him asap. publication date: to be announced.

i've been randomly happy dancing and bouncing all day long. and the amount of money is small, but i just can't seem to get this silly grin off my face.

i just know i'm going to be like this for DAYS.
