really, i had planned to write yesterday -- i even knew what i was going to write about, but it ended up being on of those days. you know, where the plans are out the window before you have a chance to start? and it wasn't just the whysper entry that got derailed.
the morning started off with everyone running late. really late. phoenix is usually at work a half an hour early. yesterday we barely scraped in on time because she overslept. and baby cat didn't get to eat before we left. i'm very grateful that baby cat is a lot like her mother was as a kid, fairly cheerful for the most part, because we didn't get to eat until close to lunch as a result of running late and having to take care of a few other things while i was out.
after dropping off phoenix, i had to run to the bank to make a very small deposit and to dispute a charge. privacy matters (which apparently also goes under another name as well) charged us almost $20 and neither i nor saxy recall ever signing up. turns out, we're not the only ones with the problem (and i will note that, like afewotherpeople, my husband had joined classmates.com just before this happened). at any rate, the teller informed me that i had to do the dispute over the phone, i made the deposit, and then it was off to the store to pick up a few necessities (light bulbs, soaps, etc. -- and still forgot the potatoes...sigh) and something quick and easy to fix for me and the baby. then it was time to make lunch, take care of one thing for work (i had other stuff i planned to do as well, but that didn't pan out), and then get baby down for her nap.
next thing i know, i get a call that the child support is in. yay! the cell bill and water bill were paid, and then i spent a good half hour or more on the phone dealing with the dispute, and most of that was time spent bouncing around to figure out who i was supposed to be talking to. while still working on that, saxy called to tell me his money was in the bank (and for once he didn't think he got ripped off). in fact, he called two or three times while i was on the other phone, and then i had to call him once to make sure we could cancel his current debit/credit card and that he wouldn't need a new one sent (he has a tap and go that he hadn't activated until yesterday).
once i took care of that, i paid a few more bills, and then kids started coming home. because my son needs supervision, i can't work on the comp once he's home. then saxy and kitten came home and he handed me rent money before the two of them went off to take care of some shopping -- nothing major, just a couple of groceries (potatoes!) and something for froggy for her birthday. they didn't get far, however, before i got a call from jewel saying she and the fiancé would be here earlier than expected with his kids. kitten and saxy came back and then we waited...and waited...and...well, you get the picture.
jewel arrived a half an hour after what she told us, we talked a little with the kids, introduced them to the cats that were present and the ferret, then their dad headed off to take them back to their mother's. saxy and kitten went and completed their task, plus bought dinner (froggy wanted wendy's so wendy's it was). we ate, then did the birthday thing with a cake that one of phoenixcat's friends picked up for her. she received one gift: one of those warm, soft, furry, lambskin blankets with dolphins on it. she adores dolphins and LOVED her present. this morning i woke her up and she was literally wrapped up in it. *g*
finally, we watched the dark knight. no kids, just us adults. by the time that was finishing up, i had to shut the comp down because we had rain and thunder and i don't take any chances with the machine if i can help it. honestly, by that time i was too tired to spend time on the machine anyway, despite having things to do that i hadn't gotten to all day. i didn't even do dishes. i didn't even stay awake for all of svu.
