still working on the grading, but i thought i'd share a couple of the projects i've also been doing for the class tomorrow. the pictures kinda suck, but here are my candy bags:

bat in front of a moon

yes, my jack-o'-lantern has a "bat" mouth!

the bat is kinda poofed out in the middle, and the pumpkin has some layering done - the orange pieces were glued onto the brown and i've layered some of the leaves as well. i wish i had some lighter green construction paper to work with to make it more obvious, but i used marker to do some shading instead. i'll be making a simpler pumpkin or two for my walls, a ghost and cat for my board, and maybe a few other things. i also made an "it's a girl!" sign to replace the really simple on that's up now (all it has is the words in cursive - i made a purdy one instead). i'm also hoping to get a fall wreath done before i crash for the night, but it's the most complicated project i have left (other than still making my way through the grading), so i'll probably leave it to last. it took me awhile to find the templates i wanted for them, and i still haven't found an old fashioned arched-back cat template, so i'll have to do without.

i didn't manage any planning this weekend, but that's okay. the next few days for most the classes are pretty much figured out, for the most part. and i did manage to make a small dent in the stack of stuff to grade. i've got the candy and tissue paper to put in the bags all bought and packed and ready to go, along with a few other things. i'm going to pick out some music to take with me for first period - the one group that i may have some major issues with - the other classes will be watching a film for the next 2 days.

i'm looking forward to tomorrow. i'm hoping the kids who are leery of me will see i'm not so bad - strict, but not so bad, and we can move on and do what we all need to do. i'm really hoping i'll get my laptop and access tomorrow too - i have 3 grades to put in for all but the first period.

as for the rest of tonight, back to grading, packing up my stuff in preparation, and being crafty!
